ok who knows lot about steroes

I am building a system for my truck, I am putting in a 12" sub in the back reg cab along with 2 6x9's as well as a 4 channel amp (this is what i am told I need) I am also installing 2 front 3.5" dash speakers. I am having the guy at the shop install all of this. My question is that I had to modify the back of the truck to get my sub box to fit. Just notched out a small section of the rounded lip under the rear window. Didn't do a hack job took my time molded a new peice in its place etc. But I am 6'4" so I have to have my seat all the back.  have purchased a shallow sub for this along with a shollaw box but the sub is going to be right up agaisnt the back of my seat at the top. It is just going to touch a tad. My question is this... how bad is this going to sound now. The guy at the stereo shop tells me its going to sound great and that it wont hurt a thing to be touching the seat. I am just wondering if he is blowing smoke or is he telling me the turth!

If the cone of the woofer is impacting anything while in use, the lower frequencies will be drowned out and the upper frequencies(for a sub) will sound muffled.  but as long as the cone does NOT touch anything it will sound fine.

Yea man we put subs facing downwards 2-3 inches from the floor sometimes down here in the back of SUV's, and cars, it does a good job of keeping stuff from going through the face of them haha.

Ok thanks , now what about the rest of the system with the 6x9 and the front 3.5" and a 4 channel amp and a 12" sub. will all of this together sound good.

the 3.5 will get alot of distortion if you do not put a filter on it.  I would recommend a 600-800hz high pass, or leave them out completely and use the kick panel or door panel speaker pods and 6.5"s.

Yes they guy told me he would be installing caps on the front speakers. i think that stops all bass going to them

I would run a seperate amp fot the mid/high range speakers and another for the sub, it will be mich easier to balance out the system and run the speakers as designed.

Yea I seen a slick installation of 6x9's behind the vents in the door in a mag article I had seen on 73-87.com(I think its ok to put that website on here?)

That all depends on what kind of music you're going to play

2 amps is a good idea. That way you can bridge the channels on the sub amp(for a single sub), and set the amp for low frequencies(most if not all amps have built in equalizer-type controls), then set the other amp for highs and it should sound pretty good.

Honestly you should look for a mono block amp instead of bridging it together.

Ok this is what I think i am going to do now, I am going to run a separte amp for the sub and another one for the speakers.  last night i [picked up a 1 channels amp for the sub.

exactly, and your four channel will work great on the rest of the speakers.
