wheel question
« on: January 06, 2011, 01:54:35 pm »
I have a 79 K10 6 lug with 15 rims.

My question is:  I have some good tires for the truck but they are 16", so what 16 rims are compatible.  The truck is mostly used for farming so looks are not important
thanks

You have to keep in mind that the front axle hub extends thru the wheel. The one in the link wont work without machining a large hole in the center.
Since its a farm truck, look for the 88-98 light duty 3/4 ton or 4x4 steel rims. You may still have to ream out the center hole to slip over the front hub, but that would be easier than the aluminum ones( less material to remove). I think the toyota rims have a larger center, but cant swear to that. The offset of the rims will pull the tires in but if you keep to a narrow tire, it should be ok.

Ive had to remind myself of that quite a bit. Ive been looking around for wheels for the newest ex cab and saw some nice factory 18s off of a 08 GMC for a good price, got all excited think about how theyd look on it just to shoot myself down when I remember the hubs stick out. >:( The bad thing is I go thru this every couple of days.  ::)
