New Mirrors!
«

I needed some new mirrors for my 86 1-ton dump because I couldn't see around the bed using the original style mirrors without rubber necking it. I looked at the West Coast style but I didn't want a jungle gym on the door. I found a set that have the West Coast look, but use the original style gooseneck and mounting location. I'm pretty happy with them. Much better visibility and about 15-20 minutes per side to put on. They don't stick out as far as the OEM or West Coast styles, but much easier to install and no drilling. I documented the process in case anyone was interested.
Can't really see around the dump body.

Look good for a simple install, best of both worlds.
I like the west coast style because thats where my strobe lights are mounted.

So can you see everything now ? They do look good on the truck.

Thanks for the comments and compliments. I can see pretty much everything that I would normally see with the full West Coast style, but just not as wide a field of vision. The convex mirror on the bottom makes up for it quite a bit and eliminates the usual blind spots. Like Blazin mentioned, the West Coasts are great for utility items (and knocking over pedestrians), but I'm pretty happy with these particular mirrors for this application. Plus, since it was 10 degrees F when I put them on, speed was important.
I picked them up from Amazon.

West coast mirrors are also good for caving your door in when you get into tree branches!
