Front shock noise??

I've had my 87 K10 for 15yrs its been an awsome truck over the yrs but 1 thing that has driven me nuts.  I can't see to get my Frt shocks to be quiet.  I have a 4" black diamond lift and the truck originally had dual shocks.  I've tried many diiferent shocks and they all seem to make noise.  If I take the shocks off and drive it..No  noise..Put shocks on with new bushings and sleeves...ok at first but start getting noisey again shortly after...what to do???

Cut the cats and mufflers off  . Have you tried to make the noise by bouncing one side or the other to see sure its coming from

just saw this thread. Some of these trucks used to have brake calipers that would rattle like that. There was a shim kit you could put in to stop it. Maybe when you take the shock off, it is so soft that it doesn't rattle the caliper? It might be worth your time to pull a wheel and see if you can move it by hand.

A friend had a similar problem on a ranger and shot some penetrating oil (pb blaster) on the bushings and the rod.  It worked for him, at least for the year he kept the truck after that.

     One question, is it right or left side or both ?  If only 1 side have you tried to switch shocks around to see if the same shock is making the noise.  That would at least tell you if it was the shock or something else like promisekeeper stated.

Describe the noise. Are you sure you are you using the right length shock with your lift?
