Temp Sending Unit
« on: May 06, 2011, 08:48:43 pm »
Where Can I get a good temp sending unit that will make the gauge read correctly?  This is the one in the cylinder head for a gauge.

I got a new one today, because the old one was reading wrong, and the new one reads wrong too!

I know the gauge needle should be sticking straight up when it's at operating temp.  The old sender was at the 1/4 mark to the left at operating temp, and the new temp sender is at the 3/4 mark to the right.

IIRC the old one was from Advance auto, and the new one is too.  I got a reading from each sender before installing the new one.

I can't recall what the meter was set on, it was ohms, and the new sender read 0.50 and the new sender read 0.72 .  so am I correct to assume I should look for one in the middle, say 0.61?  I may go search through what the store has tomorrow, and see if they vary or not.  They always let me dig around in their stuff anyway.   ;)
