gas gauge problems

OK my gas guage has always worked up till now. I not driving the truck as of yet still in rebuild mode. I just pulled my box off again and while I had it off i put some gas in as the guage was reading almost empty. So i dumped in about 15 liters of fuel. than i just noticed my Guage didn't move. So I double checked all my wiring and all looks good. i pulled the wire off and cleaned up the nipple and re installed and nothing. So now i am stumped. When I pulled the wire off i thought the needle would or should move it did nothing. I checked the wire for power and there is none , but I think that is just for ground anyway is it not? Also my truck and sending unit are new. Maybe thats just not enough gas to move the needle , i would think it was. Anyways just looking for ideas.

The ground is it on rusty metal etc get a meter check u get it

what are you calling the ground? there is only one wire coming off of it

     The sending unit for the gas tank itself needs to be grounded.  I believe this was the ground he was talking about.

I just put a new gas tank and sending unit in my truck. There is a ground wire . We hooked it up with a bolt to some random hole on the frame after cleaning up the hole with sand paper. Another good thing for electrical connections like that is the battery connection lube sold at auto stores. They usualy have it at the front desk. Regular old grease works good to. And you guys are gonna laugh but sometimes my gas guge needle wont move especialy if the truck hasnt been driven in a few days. But if i tap on the gauge it frees it up and it works fine haha. I never thought actualy taping on a gauge really works but it does sometimes.

     Tapping on the gauge means that the needle in the gauge itself is sticking, either from being bent or just dirty.
