Gun safes
« on: May 05, 2011, 10:42:23 pm »
Any input would be great. looking at gun safes, would like to know if you have had good or bad experiences with one brand or another, etc. Looking for a 10 to 14 fire rated gun safe, with a few shelves.

Mine is a Liberty Centurion, 1200 degree for 30 minutes with the electronic keypad. It was 6 big bills and I like it.

It's a 23 gun/25 cubic foot, or vice versa.

Anyone have smaller units, like those that can bolt to the floor and can double as a document safe too? Pretty much just need to store a full size semi auto, some keys, small stack of paperwork. Ive looked around, but I dont know what brands are good.

Also don't they make heat proofed footlockers?

Ask'n me? Which semi auto is it? The only one that is either loved or hated by gun owners, 40 cal type.

I don't have kids either but I think they would be better in a safe for many reasons. I too keep one loaded and on my night stand if its not on me or with me in the vehicle.

I wouldn't say it's hated. I'm just not a fan, Glocks with poor reloads tend to KB on it, but there's several issues at work there that by themselves wouldn't be issues.

Of course, I own (and sometimes carry) a .38 super, so that's a little out there. I need to contact who's making the AMT backups and see if they'll make me one.

I have a .40 Glock 22 and it is awesome, I love it.  As long as you can make good groups with it it doesn't matter if someone else hates it.  I also have a Smith & Wesson Model 629 .44 Mag... I like that one better ;)

I have a Glock 23 40 cal and love it as well.  I keep it in a cheapo Harbor Freight electric small safe bolted to the floor.  Works well and has fast access.  I keep a small fire box for real important stuff and a regular file cabinet for the mundane.
