Brakes issue on a '79 C30

I have a '79 C30 with the hydroboost. My front brakes do not work at all. I've already replaced the front flexible lines. After replacing the lines and bleeding the system, my front brakes seemed to work, but the steering was really tough. The front brakes seemed to quit working again the next day, and my steering was back to normal. My best assumption, considering I know nothing about how the hydroboost works (except the basics), is that the hydroboost has quit working. Before I go shell out the money for a new hydroboost, I'd like some feedback/input from those of you that have dealt with this brake setup before.

it could be master cylinder, clogged brake line, or sticking calipers. What is the fluid level in the reservoir when it wasnt working and when it was working?

Fluid level has not changed; working or not, it's full. If I bleed the brakes, the same scenario occurs.

is your power steering pump belt tight? We have had similar issues with my dads old 79 c30 and 87 R30 that both have hydro boost systems where we would loose power steering and the brake pedal would go to the floor but it could be alot of other things that are wrong.

I do have new belts that need to be put on. They're worn, but seem tight. Although, they do squeal a little when you first fire it up. I'll give that a shot tomorrow; good call.

Regardless of the time frame, I was needing some feedback fairly quickly. This is an out of state truck, and I have code enforcement cruising around regularly in my neighborhood. The tags/registration are out from the previous owner, and I don't want to get fined for it sitting in my driveway. It has to pass a safety inspection before I can register it in the state of Texas.

On a different note, I did get the problem fixed; it was the master cylinder.

glad you fixed it. but about bumping, if someone knows anything about it they will chime in. the guys on here can and will help whenever they can. but sometimes they dont get on till a certain part of the day or night. just have patients, there has been people on here who have been ticked off when someone hasnt responded to their post with in a reasonable amount of time in their eyes or they post multiple post on a problem that can just be left in one post but i know with me dont know if its cause where i work but that the quickest reason for me just not to answer your question and go on my way.
