crewcab window rubbers
« on: August 15, 2011, 03:57:58 pm »
Hi guys

I'm at the point of fitting new window rubbers and unsure!

The old rubbers were so knackered they fell out in 10 bits

New rubbers weren't labelled and I don't know how to tell the front from the back ! With the front vent in and the rear fixed window in I'm wondering if the one piece is for the front and two piece for the rear or vice versa? There"s also metal tabs that don't seem to relate to any fixing point when offered up.

Anyone help a confused Brit!

Cheers guys

You're talking the window channel pieces, not the inner/outer seals or scrapers, right?

Just did my 'burb.  The two piece ones were for the rear.  The single piece ran up the back channel.  The metal tab is at one end of the piece, right?  On mine those went into the top, right by the back fixed window.  I think they may go into the set screw that comes down from the top of the door, can't remember for sure.  The long single runs were for the front windows.  You can do it with the windows in, but you need to loosen the posts so you can slide the windows backwards/forwards enough to install the new rubber in the channel.  I took the back fixed windows out so I could access the lock actuators and lock linkage for R&R, but you could probably do it with just undoing the mounts and angling the piece forward enough to free the glass.

That's brill bud many thanks. I had toyed with the metal tab tucking under the screw but its as if the tab is facing the wrong way!

At least I know which bit of channel goes where now, when I get time I'll have another look

Cheers again

Thinking about it that metal tab may have just tucked up under the edge of the fixed frame.  Not sure, have a look at it and see.  On mine there were also a couple of holes in the channel along the top for a plastic push pin to go into a hole in the middle upper frame.  I think I broke most of those plastic pins trying that, it all stayed up fine without them though.

I'm sure some mastic on the back will hold it in place, not as if anyone's gonna see it!  :D
Tonight was spent taking a mates quad g/box apart and 2mow I've got to jetwash a mates engine bay to find his oil leak.
All go, but thanks for the info, really appreciate the help
