Demon or Holley Carb options for a 454

The Holley Carb on the 454 engine in the truck I'm buying looks pretty spent and something's wrong because the engine won't idle down.  Runs good over 2000 RPM but won't slow down to a idle and stay running.

I'm looking through my local areas on Craigslist and there's a bunch of carbs for sale, Holley 750's and Demon 750 and a 850

I called a bunch of these guys and they all say the carbs worked well when removed and are ready to bolt on and go.  Of the 3 guys I called they're all car guys and all upgraded to bigger, more race application carbs.

Anyone have any opinions on options for a carb for a 454?

:)

I would check for a vacuum leak first if it were me...

Ditto.  Unless you don't care if there is a vac leak and you just want a new carb ;D

Removed carb and checked for vacuum leaks and anything obvious to be wrong, found nothing.  Put carb back on and did a tune-up and now it runs much better and idles normal.

The basics always rule the day...

Still has a miss so next is a compression test.
