«

as the years go by it gets harder to find any 73-87 parts in the local junk yard. up to what year chevy/gmc vehicle could i take a 5 lug spare from. i don't know if the 5 lug pattern changed after 87.
thanks

the pattern didnt change but the hub size did get smaller on the 88-98 style. but i think you can use the older ford/ dodge style rims

All GM full size trucks 5 lugs are the same pattern. The back spacing changed in 88, but the rim will still bolt on.
Ford 5 lug is bigger, and the same as CJs.
Dodge has 2 size 5 lug patterns, neither will fit a Chevy. The bigger pattern will fit full size Ford cars. the smaller will fit Wranglers, Cherokees etc.

Most of the later model 5 lug Astro vans, full size RWD cars, Cadillac Fleetwood, Caprice or SS Impala, Buick Roadmaster, Olds 98, also had the same bolt pattern.

The bolt pattern is 5x5 or 5x127mm throughout all years of 5 lug on the fullsize truck, and I'm pretty sure the offset is a +15mm. This means that where the wheel bolts up to the hub, it is 15mm offset to the outside measuring from the center. This means the outer lip of the wheel is more to the inside of the body. A negative offset will push the wheel and tire to stick outside the body (which causes premature bearing wear and stresses all other aspects of the suspension).
