It depends on the ride quality you want.  Do a search on hear about lifts, there has been a couple of in depth threads about the subject.
It does matter on different company's lift's, they all go for something different.  ex. flex, or ride quality, or on road manners compared to off road manners.
My advice would be to do some homework on the different lifts in your price range and make a more educated decision from there.

what do you plan on doing? what size tires? to me 2-3 is not much good for anything not worth the money but its to me i have 6" rough country and it is stiff as heck. but the roll isnt to bad but with only 2-3 you shouldn’t have to worry about roll and tires shouldn’t be that bad since your only stepping them up a couple inches. You might be able to get away with just adding some leafs up front and blocks in the rear get the blocks from a parts store along with the u bolts might save some bucks

My 74 k10 had 33 on it when I bought it with stock suspension, though I never took it off road, it would have rubbed like crazy if I did.

it really depends on what you want to do i had one i put a 3 inch body one of mine so i could put 33s on and it fit right (cheap easy, not a whole lot of body roll on these boxy chevys) , i dont see the point of springs in the front if your going to block the back, might as well just lift the body, but if your looking for a suspension lift i wouldn't go under a 4 inch just talking bang for your buck but with a 4inch suspension lift you would need 35s to really fill out the wheel wells, another good site http://www.ntwonline.com i buy all my lifts from there and i broke my last two superlift leaf springs and eventually had to get them custom built, finding bushings for them is a nightmare id avoid them but i have had good luck with rough country once they are broke in and they are reasonably priced
