Milestone reached....

Too many of you out there who can stay on track and finish what you start I commend you.  With 2 boys, 2 garden tractors, 5 trucks and way to much stuff collected over the years I finally reached a milestone today.  I usually get sidetracked with everyday life, work and family.  This past week I was able to strip my 91 Suburban and get it ready to be hauled off Monday afternoon.  I finished up "the wall" and put my truck away for the winter.  I have my grills, headlight doors and dash pads above on a shelf.  I have some additional work to put stuff away but my hopes are to be able to finish up before the snow flies and have my wife be able to park her car in the garage and actually get my 86 under the enclosed carport.

     Congrats Zieg, hopefully you labeled everything.  And nice parking job, I can not tell how much room exactly you had in the back of your truck, but looks close enough for you to have to jimmy it back and forth to get it in there.

Thanks, there is about 3 ft to the cabinet behind the truck, there is a service door to access the main 24x24 garage.  As you can see the truck is parked on a pad, originally a bass boat pad on the side of the garage.  I added another 24x24 on to the original back in 1997-8.

     I missed that pad in the pic.  You really need a shop.  What size on one are you thinking about building this spring ?

I'm in about the same boat as you (2 young kids, several vehicles, tractors, lawn equipment, and misc. stuff). Somedays I find myself feeling accomplished just getting my tools back into the toolbox... 

Seeing the photo of your pickup parked like that reminds me of the scene on Austin Powers where he's trying to turn the little cart around in the hallway...

     I missed that pad in the pic.  You really need a shop.  What size on one are you thinking about building this spring ?

As big as I can afford.  I have to check out how I will be affected in taxes first.  It has to have high enough ceiling for a lift.  I am thinking at least 32 ft deep but not set on that.  I will keep my options open on width, may do it in stages as funds allow and have it constructed so it is expandable.

Your doing better than me Zieg! I still got projects that need to be done before winter really hits. This morning when it was 0 degrees F it was a good reminder to get going...I didn't though, instead I went inside the warm garage and worked on my truck.

I know that feeling all to well. I do work for people at night a lot and usually when I am done it is late and I just pull their car out and leave the tools to clean and put away the next day. Sometimes I do it for a couple nights in a row. Then I have some dirty tool out! lol

I didn't work on my 1 ton like I wanted to this weekend, But I did go pick up my heating oil. I bought 275 gallons from a guy here in town for $500. I had to pump it into 55 gallon drums in the back of my truck, and then pump it into my oil tank. But just under $2.00 a gallon a little work was okay. Got some more stuff arranged in the new place too. Need to get the living space done, and turn my attention to the garage! Have to make room for the bikes, and the lawn tractor in the ground storage box next weekend. That will clear out some room in the garage!

Suburban is gone, oh so much better view out the kitchen window...  Got the bed of the 86 C10 clear of leaves, acorns and twigs.  Busy busy busy...
