Things are looking up
« on: December 23, 2011, 11:58:17 pm »
Just got back from a week at Disney World w/ my wife and 7 yr old boy.  We all had fun...
www.delbridge.net/disney

and I found out before I left that I may have to change my name on this site.  "Sgt" won't do it anymore. Been promoted to Lieutenant.  This was the first time in over 10 yrs i put in for it---and whataya know, I got it!  Now LtDel as a name, hmmm, I dunno.

Went to Bubba Gump Shrimp Company in Orlando FL yesterday....for some reason the name Lt. Dan kept coming into mind

Great to have you back and thanks for sharing the pics. Looks like you had a great time!!

We did a Disney vacation a few years back too. I must admit the wife had to drag me kicking and scratching, but the fact is, I had a great time and would do it again.
Congrats on the promotion Lieutenant!!

P.S. I like the tactical vest your were wearing in your pics. All the pockets are great and it's a nice cover if you CCW.

You have quite the eye.  I became a certified Law Enforcement Firearms Range Instructor recently and have a few of these vests now.  They work quite well on trips like Disney because of so many pockets for your things.  Also, I do some photography as well and the vests work well with that too for all the lenses, filters, batteries, remotes, etc..gonna do some shopping today and the vest is going w/ me, not only for the pockets, but, as you mentioned, to carry concealed.    ;D
The Disney trip was just as much fun for the parents as it is for the kids.  It really is a great time.  And, we found the perfect time frame to go, right before Christmas when the kid is out of school and the sunny Floridays around 80 degrees each day--beautiful.

You mean things were ever looking down for you?  You? i'm shocked. ;D

Just curious:   If you see a 73-91 square speeding, would you be likely to give it more of a break than other vehicles?

No, Stew, things were not looking down--I can't complain.  I could've said things are looking higher i guess.  My career has been quite rewarding--let's just call it a great work ethic I have had since a teenager instilled in part by my parents. I have always, in  my L. E. career, taken on more responsibility, nearly every year no matter my position in the office and have been recognized for that.  Hard work does pay off. I am able to retire in 5 yrs 10 months.  But, with this new position, who knows, i may keep on working longer than that--looking forward to this new position, in charge of Investigations.  So, I won't be on the road per say.
To answer your question reference chevy trucks on the road and if I am able to look the other way, let me just say, on this public forum,  in writing that could come back to haunt me (way to put me on the spot), that I took an oath of office and must carry out my duties impartially. That said, members of this site who are doing a great deed in keeping these great vehicles on the road cannot possibly be bad people and therefore, being good people, no good would come from throwing the book around.  There are people who need a little coaxing to get on the correct path.  I don't think people reading this have that problem.  Be yourself and you'll be fine, but, don't test me.  How's that for dancing around a question?

Congratulations Andy.  I'm sure the promotion was well deserved.  Never let it be said Disneyland or World is just for kids.  My wife and I enjoy going by ourselves now that the kids are grown, such a class place.  Again, congratulations Lieutenant!!

stew let me tell you this about the tickets. being L.E. not municipal but still an officer its most the time about how you treat the officer, if hes having a bad day or hes the type that would write his mother a ticket. only one you have control of well two first one is, your speed. second is how you treat that officer when he goes to correct you for your mistake. if you do something thats going to catch the cops attention like your diving habits or the condition of your vehicle i.e open headers or straight pipes then you will see cops more often than a guy driving a smart car beside you doing the same speed as you, if he wants to give you a ticket he will but if he can find more than one reason to give you one then he probably would take that over just being able to write just one for that guy driving the smart car with his seat belt on. multiple times i have creped into dui check point in my 79 which is lifted and open headers. on my way out i usually try to not give it any gas lol never have i been pulled over for speeding in it been pulled over in my imp for speeding multiple times some times where stupid mistakes and some had reason to get out of them. even being L.E. i still get some tickets but it has to be a really bad thing that i did to get it

Man! DisneyWorld looks like fun.  My wife and daughter are going next year, I bet they'll have a great time.  One of these days I want to go.  I've been to EuroDisney, and DisneyLand(Cali), but I hear DisneyWorld beats both of them.  Congrats on the promotion.  You look almost exactly how I pictured you.

thanks Team.  Yeah, I've been to DisneyLand and Disney World as a kid. There is a big difference.  Walt learned from his mistakes (and limitations of land in Anaheim) in the '50's,  and started several real estate companies in late '60's buying up land in FL--so as not to arouse suspicion and land price increases.   Then the story broke....Disneyland has 900 acres, DisneyWorld has 27,000 acres around Kissimmee!!!  They can, even after 40 years, still expand a great deal in Fl due to all their land. Because of Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, and Disney Hollywood Studios---there is a lot of things to do and see, not to mention nearby Universal Studios, SeaWorld, etc....
