More lowering questions

HI,
I have read a lot of the posts and gotten very confused about what to do.
I have a 1983 shortbed fleetside pickup.Has 305 V8,with turbo 350 trans and stock suspension any rally wheels.
I would like to get some 17"  wheels and lower truck.What is the most I can lower truck without a lot of problems?Where is the best place to order what I need,springs, shocks,etc.?Summit racing or JC Whitney?
Just want to lower truck a little and get it to set level instead of high in rear as it does now.

If you just want the rear to come down, just get shackles or hanger.  A lot of people have had good luck with www.sporttruckdirect.com/

Need to do a 2/4 drop

Saw a picture of white 1985 C-10 in the picture gallery and it is just the look I want.Said it has a 2/4 drop.How is the easiest way to do a 2/4 drop.This dropping is new to me ,but it sure looks cool!

If you want 2/4, get 2" spindles and a shackle/hanger kit.  Western sells one.  It should be availible on the link above.

HI,
Thanks for the information.A friend has some 2 inch lower springs he bought from summit racing and didn`t use,he will give them to me.What would happen if I just installed them instead of buying spindles?Would it throw suspension geometry out?Just wanted to ask and see if they would work before buying spindles.

Forgot to add that the 2" lower springs my friend has is coil springs for front end.

HI,
Don`t know who made them.He bought 2 dropped spindles and a pair of 2 inch lower than stock springs from summit racing.He was going for a real low drop.Then decided to just go with spindles.He has offered them to me ,but I haven`t seen them yet.Is there a brand of spring that I should steer clear of?

Any of the popular brands will be fine.  There isn't any one particular manufacture to avoid, I was just curious.
