looking into a 70 C60 427 Tall block t replace my 6.2

Anyone have any info on the 427 Tall block??? I have a chance to get a GOOD RUNNING 1970 427 BB TALL BLOCK out of a 1970 C60 BIG truck.The truck has 65,000 miles on it and it runs.
I'm thinking about going to look at this tomorrow. I've always been into BB Chevys but don't know much about the 427 tall block. I'm wanting to replace the 6.2 Diesel in my 87 V20 4X4 and would love to have a good running TQ monster. I'm thinking I might be able to buy this whole truck and pull the engine and scrap everything else and get my money back and come out with a good running 427.

Any thoughts ?

Other than being hard on gas it should do well for you.  Why not look for a 6.5?

The 427 tall deck is not a hot rod performance engine like it's 427 passenger brother.

It is a good engine for towing, hauling, etc. But dont expect it to spin any serious RPMs.

Intake manifolds are a bear to find that use any normal street carb. 99% chance your will have a govenor built into it.

Stock 427TD heads are blah at best....

The pistons have 4 piston rings, and are much taller than passenger engine pistons.

However, if you ever intend on building a 540 stroker, the 427TD block is what many guys use. I have a 427TD engine block that will be the foundation for my next build. I will be building a 496 to go into my '77 K30 pro-street sled puller.
