Reinstall of factory A/C

I have a 79' Chevy Cheyenne, C20 2wd, factory A/C. Last November I removed the compressor, accumulator, and the 2 thick a/c lines on top off engine because it wasn't working, and according to my uncle, "leaking and broken". Well I have since learned his auto skills aren't as good as I thought. I still have these parts. Theoretically speaking, I should be able to reinstall these parts, and charge the system, and then begin looking for leaks and signs of malfunction right? Because its hot as heck here in Cali and I want my a/c back ahaha. Any ideas and suggestions before I do this project would be great. Thanks ya'll!

Clean the lines out as best as you can. Hopefully nothing got into the ports on the compressor. Any little bit junk left in your system can clog up your orfice tube. After you make sure you system in clean reinstall everything along with a new orfice tube and new o-rings. If you can get a hold of some gauges and ac vacuum pump, it will help check for leaks and get rid of any moisture in the systems.

Thanks, I'll have to ask around for the gauges and vacuum pump, but I can get a new orifice tube and o-rings easy. Will blowing the lines out with a air hose work?

If you can get your hands on a can of Brake & Parts Cleaner and spray that down the tubes first to break up and oily residue then you can use a blow gun to blow out the line.

You will need a new accumulator if it sat open to atmosphere.

Sweet. I will do the brake clean stuff. I'm not sure if I plugged the accumulator lines or not, that could be a small dilemma. I guess we will see this weekend.
