All zeros on speedometer 00000
« on: November 27, 2012, 08:48:33 pm »
Due to the age of my vehicle in my state the mileage is exempt... So how do I zero my odometer to keep track of engine upgrade is this an easy task?

I only know of 2 ways using your existing speedo, 1 is to rewind with a drill ( as long as it does not have a block on it), 2 would be to take apart and separate the clicker mechanism and turn all numbers to zero.
It might be easier just to buy a new spedo if you want to start from zero and your laws do not require you to keep actual mileage.

Not to sound like a smart aleck, but  When I redid my truck, I just wrote the mileage down in a little book that I keep track of everything with.

In our style speedo the indicator needle need to be taken off which I have not been able to do without breaking several.  If you can do that it is easy enough to do.

The other option I guess is spin it forward till it zero's out.  That way while you are holding the drill you can dream of all the places you could have seen in those miles.   ;D

hook the cable up to it and run it forward.  Taking them apart it a pain, and you won't be able to spin it backwards (depending on the year of the gauge.)
