3/4 ton Dodge axles???

My neighbor has offered up some 3/4 dodge axles for free to get them out of his garage. From what I understand they are older Dana 60s. Will they fit if not what will it take to make them fit? Is it worth the work to make them fit? Right now this is all the info I have on the axles.

Going on 78 K10.

Also I live out side of Ft. Bragg and they are having a auction soon and many sets of Used HMMWV tires will be up for grabs 37x12.5xR16.5 what's the most I should pay for a decent set if anyones picked up some of these before?

I'm not sure if the D 60s will fit.  Also, most Dodges that were 3/4 ton had a D 44 or a D 44 HD (heavy duty) and not the D 60.  Can you get pictures as this will allow us to know for sure?  The spring perches will likely have to be moved at a minimum.  Other considerations:  Is the front closed- or open- knuckle?;  Does it have disc brakes?; Is the front a pre '94 axle (pre '94 have passenger side drop and '94 and newer have driver side drop and coil springs, IIRC)?  Also, will need new front drive shaft and likely a different u-joint but am not sure on that.

If they are D 60 axles w/ open knuckles, disc brakes and passenger drop, I'd go for it.  If they are D 60s and they don't work out you can always put them up for sale.  This combo is the holy grail for pre '94 Dodge 4x4s.

I'll be home from Afghanistan on leave next week so I'll be able to get a better understanding of what exactly is going on. Thank you for you input it's greatly appreciated bro.

Also military 37's gently used are the worth it? if they aren't the axles I had hoped them to be will I be good to run the 37s on the stock 1/2ton axles? I'm going with 8in of suspension lift and it has 4.10 gears now.

Corey, I can't answer the tire value question w/o knowing the price.  I do know that guys on other forums use them and like them.  I don't know whether stock 1/2 ton axles will handle the strain of larger, heavier 37" tires.  Perhaps other members that have done what you are contemplating will offer their experience or ideas.  I'd also wonder if the brakes on 1/2 ton axles would be adequate.  Others can chime in.

yes they will work, the spring perches are a little off like under 1" i heard you can get away with not moving them. but $20 for new ones i would line it all up. d60 in the front and rear is one of mopars set up. common one if im thinking right

Had 2 different sets of 37's they work well, 37's are to much for 1/2ton axles it's a real challenge for the brakes. It can be done if low buck is the key but you really have to back up your stopping distance. 37's on dana 60's are no problem but your going to need brake booster setup to get maximum stopping and if set up properly then those dana 60's will lock them 37's right up on dry pavement!
