straight 6 to 454. frame side motor mount position?
« on: October 06, 2012, 11:05:17 am »
Can't seem to find the right search term to come up with the answer I need.

It looks like I may need to lower the mounts on the frame side to get them to line up with the engine mounts. Does this sound correct?  It appears there's a set of holes a half inch lower or so...

You wouldn't be using any of the 6 cyl. mounting. Take the frame pad/mounts off of crossmember & install 8 cyl. mounts & go from there. Lorne

I removed the 350 from my 79 GMC and installed a 454.
Attached is a photo of the driver's side 454 motor mount installed.  The hole with the bolt missing was eventually drilled out and a bolt installed with a hefty washer on the underside.
The position of the motor mount as shown, matched perfectly with the other half of the mount attached to the side of the engine when the engine was lowered into place.
Hope this helps.
