88 bed on 82 Sierra
« on: October 19, 2012, 08:06:27 pm »
Got a shortbed 82 Sierra that I'm gonna have to reskin the driver side bed and replace the rear quarter panels on both sides. I've found a like new 88 stepside bed for sale cheaper than what I can do the metal work on my original bed and am wondering if it will fit and what mods will need to be done to make it work such as the gas filler tube mount and body mounts. Pretty sure I've seen it done before but wanted to check first.

You won't get any kudos here for desicrating a 73-87 like that!   ;D
It can be done.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

Yeah I figured I'd catch heck over it! And really I like the look of the bed already on it. Just looking for things on the cheap!

You got any links for bedsides. Drivers side shortbed with square hole. Only found one site wanting 470$. That reasonable? Haven't messed with much bodywork.

Those are large pieces and I need to know where they are going for pricing, and past suppliers were bad about keeping them out of stock.
I started my new IT job today so I am playing catch up tonight.  I will get the shipping cost tomorrow.
