Quadrajet R4-M4ME rebuild question
« on: December 14, 2013, 08:53:42 am »
Hi, new member, just bought a 1984 Chevy K30, has a Goodwrench 350 that I'm rebuilding the quadrajet.  I know the carb had a float issue, and the electric choke was not hooked up and the rear vacuum break was not hooked up either.  Problem, I have an extra spring.  It looks the same size as the idle stop screw spring.  I did not remove that screw, followed the Youtube videos, and other sites, and have no idea where it goes, unless it came in the rebuild kit.  Anyone have any ideas where it could go?

The M4ME Quadrajet exploded drawing shows the following springs:

Spring, accelerator pump plunger
Spring, accelerator pump return
Spring, power piston
Spring, fuel filter
Spring, throttle stop screw
Spring, idle mixture needle
Spring, fast idle adjusting screw

From page 67 of Rochester Carburetors by Doug Roe.

Well, all those springs were accounted for, don't know where it came from.   Good news is, the truck starts, sounds good, just need to fine tune, and I need a choke and vacuum break.  Thanks for the help.
