Header Wrap Question?

85 C30 454ci Tow rig. Putting on a set of flowtech headers and need some advice on heat wrapping them or not. I have been told it can hold heat in the heads, as well as the complete opposite. Thoughts?

I've no personal experience with wrapping headers, but I've heard from a few people (I don't know where they got their information, though.) that the wrap holds moisture against the steel header tubes, and causes premature rust. Maybe it's not moisture, but hydrocarbons, or even excessive heat. Whatever it is that the wrap holds against the header pipes is what allegedly causes premature rust.

Ya know, it might have been more useful if I didn't say anything at all.

IF you don't want your headers to last, wrap them.  If it is a track car that never sees rain, wrap them.
I see no purpose for them on a street driven vehicle other than header destruction.

     The wrap manufactures will tell you they trap heat inside which keeps your engine bay cooler, all true.  What they don't tell you is what has been stated by both post, they will trap moister and cause rust if they are ever exposed to water.
     That also includes wrapping exhaust, which in my youth I experienced.
