I have a 73 C10 a 75 F100. There are somethings I like about my FoMoCo and there are some I like about my Chevy. I am betting a lot of you have had classic Ford / Dodge trucks to.
I haven't had a 70s Dodge truck, would kill for a 71 Dodge Dude, with Don Knotts as the spokesman how could you go wrong ?
F100s are almost as bad as a 63/63 Chrysler working the headlight switch / wipers can be fun. My Ford handles better than my Chevy, BUT my Ford is 18" longer, Supercab.
So what are some of the things you like about Chevy vs Ford ? And what do you like better about Ford ?

I must be an exception..I'm a bowtie purist. I've had a ford truck..I hated EVERYTHING about it aside from the mileage it got. an '83 f150 4x4 with a 300 inline 6, 31x10.50's and 2.33 gears with a 4 spd manual OD transmission. Got 26 mpg highway. Gutless, broke down CONSTANTLY if it was pushed just a little bit, ugly as homemade sin..bought it with a 7' Meyers plow..Pushing snow was a joke for sure. Gave it to my dad after the transmission started acting up for the second time...in a year I put MAYBE 1500 miles on it, and had to rebuild the transmission, rear end, and the head..the Head was replaced and overhauled again after my dad got it, and the transmission was replaced twice when it blew itself apart both times. The last time they replaced it they put a more traditional truck trans in it with a granny low first gear.
Dodge trucks, I've got less opinion on either way. But I won't own another furd truck unless its a perfect crew cab with a GM drivetrain.

im american all the way. that being said i love chevys then dodge and then ford. have to be a good reason i would be driving a ford like "free" my 92 sable was and i drove her all around a tough car i must say only thing i ever had to replace was stater and one motor mount. took her to the junk yard under her own power thats only cause i went and bought a 2004 impala. in a way i miss that old free, no payment and lower insurance sable. but if i get a new truck i will be looking for a diesel dodge or chevy maybe even a cummins 12v swap into one of the chevys we have laying around. my 86c10 would be a good place to start all ready have 6" lift and k5 axles under her

The very first truck I ever bought was a 1982 s10 before I was even old enough to drive. I've been hooked on Chevy since.

my family had both chevys and fords in it... IMO, the fords were more primitave at the time. and none were rated for slide in camper service like the chevys were, i think at that time, the chevys were 10 years at least ahead of the primitive fords of the time. I know for a fact fords of the time had the same tech as in the late 60's. while chevys of the same time were way ahead techwise. Even that said, i wouldnt have a chevy before 1977. but i like the old style so id say a 78 chevy is the best, newest tech vs looks vs primativeness.

That being said, all manufacuturers had bad and good years for trucks and good and bad ideas... IMO Pick the truck you LIKE the MOST and RUN WITH IT. you cannot go wrong doing that.
Actually if you think about it, all our trucks are obsolete and sorely lacking tech n ease compared to any new truck you can name. go with what you like/love the most and run with it man. no way to go wrong doing that!

i have a 91 ford made in mexico 351w 4sp tranny with an 8.8 rear end... and i have a chevy stepside 76 with a 350 and the SAME 4sp tranny as the ford and a 12bolt rear end.. i have more problems with the ford than the chevy.. from electrical issues to clutch issues..ANYWAYS im currently living in mexico and the federales or the federal police use new f150 and they have engine problems, electrical problems, and not to mention exhaust issues for some reason they tend to leak a lot and to see then at the shop at the ford dealers a lot also... the military on the other hand have chevys. and you never see a beat up chevy... they are always running smooth. both agencies take them off road and drive like if they were stolen.. by the way the marines have 2014 chevys...
