Bent Spring Hanger
« on: December 07, 2013, 11:06:18 am »
My daughter drove the truck the other night and spun out. After I got the truck on the road, I noticed it was tracking differently. When I got under the truck I noticed the rear spring hanger on the right front spring was bent (see pic).  Should I try to bend it back or just buy a new hanger?

I would replace them if you can get them. You have to take them off to straighten them anyway. Metal gets weak when it gets bent out of shape and then bent back into shape.

Out of curiosity, did that happen from just going off the road or did a chain get wrapped around it? If it was from just going off the road then I would look the rest of the truck over real good. You are just about guaranteed to find more damage.

I'm with thirsty. Replace it metal stretches and becomes weak when bent.

Thanks for the advice. I will replace it.  I found them here for dirt cheap: http://www.sdtrucksprings.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=16125&zenid=70f5e336821cd0bc5bca8e5b45f0c948

I don't think it was bent before she drifted off the road and jerked it back onto he pavement.  I've looked everywhere but so far that is all I have found that was bent.  Thanks again!
