Warn Hubs parts?
« on: March 03, 2014, 08:38:06 pm »
Please excuse my general stupidity in this. Been working on servicing the front axle (Dana 44) on my 77 4x4. It has Warn premium locking hubs. As I disassembled the hubs there was a rather large spring inside (both sides) that was broken and twisted and destroyed. The Warn Premium Locking hub rebuild kit (Sold at 4 wheel parts etc) does not include this spring. Does anyone know where I can find this part? What is it called? I think it puts back pressure on the gear with in the hub. Judging by how mangled it was I wonder as to how critical it is to the general function of the hub.

Thanks for your help!

http://warn.iwebcat.com/imgVD/WAR/11715F0-pn38826.pdf    In here you will see it is called "spring and oil slinger".
I got this from another site which had got it directly from customer service, so to answer your question, you will have to check with a warn dealer ( or back at 4 wheel parts ) and see if they can order just the springs for you.  If not you will have to call warn themselves and have them ship it to you.  I am sure they have a part number, you just have to call the customer service desk and not talk to a salesman.

Thank you bake!! I knew I couldn't be alone on this! This front axle was really in bad shape!
