Another heater problem.
« on: March 03, 2003, 12:21:00 am »
I'm sure this has been covered already but I'll ask again.

My 87 Burb hardly puts out air through the defrosters. Most comes out the vents. I pulled the glove box to watch the rod/controller that moves the door. It just won't move it all the way to run the air to the defrosters. I can move it by hand but it springs back. It does work, just can't move all the way to the right to let air to the defrosters. Moving it by hand, there doesn't seem to be a bind to keep it from going all the way.

Ideas, suggestions or even educated guesses would be great. Winter seems to have returned to Montana.

Thanks,
Kazz

I have the same issue with my 80 GMC K1500.  I know mine has some vacume lines that control the vent flaps but I am just starting to learn.  I took a look in my Haynes manual but it had nothing on the ducts / vents.  Anyone know of a good source of information about the stuff under the dash?

There are manuals in the Tech section for most of the years for these trucks.  Have you looked there?
