compression too high
« on: February 27, 2014, 02:25:16 am »
Hey everyone. I really need some advice from some experts. I'm currently building a 355 sbc. I planned on using flat top pistons with four valve relief with stock 76 cc heads but found out they were cracked and no good. So I recenlty bought some vortex heads 062 64 cc chambers. Now I'm afraid my compression ratio might be way too high. I'm assuming I have a deck height of .025( have not measured yet), head gasket thickness of .015 to give me .040 quench. The piston head volume is +6.00 cc, 4.030 bore, and standard stroke. My compression is coming out to be too high on pump gas. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Not tryna build a race motor. Just a good power house for my c10. Please help!!!
Gotta clean my back windshield cause I'm too busy kicking up dust

I got 11.9:1, is that what you came up with? You could run a head gasket in .050"- .060" neighborhood which might work. Have you calculated your dynamic compression yet? What are the cam specs your going with? If the DCR is low enough you might get away with it.
