I've been reading the loud exhaust thread, and I have a question.  I have a 87 V20 with a 350 and stock cat and exhaust.  (th400 trans) I've done a fair amount of work on Chevys, but I never have messed with exhaust stuff before.  The y pipe after the manifolds is very bent making back pressure for the right bank.  I want to keep my stock manifolds and go to dual exhaust with flow through turbo mufflers.  (not too loud)  The problem is no muffler shop will eliminate the cat and when I look at ordering something; nothing is listed for a 4 X 4 87.  Do I just order for a 86?  I've looked just in just about every catalog.  ( , J C Whitney, etc.)  I'm not sure how to route dual exhaust; it looks very crowded underneath. go with high flow cats.

It's only $250 cdn more to get up. they are straight threw 2.5"

I went with a full custon exhaust. dual 2.5" threw 2.5" high flow cats threw 2.5" flowmaster 40's.

If a cop knows I don't have cats. It's a $350 plus you have to get the cats put on yur vehicle.

there is very lil loss in power running high flow cats.

I would like louder/meaner sounding at times. So I will try to get dumps put on.

If you want to save a lil money. get a flowmaster Y collector.
split/two 2.5" into 3" 16.5" long you can get dual 2.5 into 3.5"

need to have pipe bent to it. then 3" single pipe threw a 3" muffler.

Thanks for the info.  I think I will go with your first recommendation.  It will cost more than I wanted to go, but I think it will be better in the long run.
