Wheel cross fit
« on: September 13, 2014, 11:52:47 pm »
Hey guys. I have been doing some research regarding which wheels will fit which vehicles. I've heard that Chevy, Nissan, and Toyota 6 hole wheels are interchangeable. So, I found this site.
http://www.roadkillcustoms.com/hot-rods-rat-rods/Wheel-Bolt-Pattern-Cross-Reference-Database.asp?LugCount=6&StudSpreadInch=5.5&StudSpreadMM=#axzz3DGEBv8hV

Which shows 2 different hub/center bore sizes.

One line shows 108, then a few lines down it shows 78.3.

Can anybody explain this to me?
Thanks

It is pretty easy, say you have 6 lugs on your rim and you want to know the "bolt pattern" as they call it.
Start with a lug, call this lug #1, then go around to lug #3.  Now measure between the middle of both lugs, if you have 5.5", then you have a rim that is 6 by 5.5" lug bolt pattern.
The middle opening is different on a lot of vehicles.  Obviously you can not put a rim on your truck with an opening of 4" with yours being 5".  Without center caps on, having an opening that is too much bigger would look funny, like it does not belong there.  4x4 trucks matter the most because of the lock outs on the front axle's.

Yeah. I get all that. But the link shows that all 73 to 87 half ton 4X4 trucks have a 108 hub/center hole. Then a few lines it again says all 73 to 87 half ton 4X4 trucks have a 78.3 hub/center hole. That's what I'm confused about.

Who ever wrote the article must have made a typing error.  At this point I am not sure which one is correct, maybe someone who knows will chime in and help you out.

The M/T's 1.5 hole wheels I have now are 108mm and they are maybe just a mil larger that the hubs. The older solid front axle nissan's and toyota's mostly used the dana 44 which shares a lot with the corprate 10bolts and the hubs are exactly the same size btu newer IFS are extremely small and wil never fit safely IMO.
