« on: September 13, 2014, 07:21:12 pm »
my 76 c10 didn't come with a user manual or repair manual that i can get basic info from. first, how do i find out which size engine is in my truck (305, 350, etc). second, i need to know engine capacities, like how much oil, antifreeze, etc does my engine take?

http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/techinfo/73-91VIN/1976truck.pdf

This will work if you have the original equipment in the truck still.  Otherwise behind and below the driver's side head is where to find the casting number of the block, a quick internet search with those numbers will tell you what block you have.
Now granted that this does not tell you if someone has altered any of you equipment, but if will give you a starting point.
Also in the tech section we have the manuals for our trucks for the members so they can look up information and repair procedures on their trucks.  They are the repair manuals the actual techs used at the dealerships.  There is also wiring diagrams for the different years along with the manuals and separate diagrams grouped to common years.
The tech section is located within the 73-87 Chevy trucks tab.  Good luck and happy hunting.
