anybody tried this?
« on: July 25, 2005, 04:31:00 pm »
does anyone(company) make a RAM air kit for the c10? if not and i wanted to make my own, what do i have to take into consideration when i have the motor assembled?  i'm guessing it doesn't matter due to the fact that i've seen air cleaners just sticking out of hood and sometimes no hood involved.  gracias, joey.

you dont need to do anything special at all....actually, the term RAM AIR is misleading...it would really be just cold air...or fresh air...its not ramming....or forcing the air in

Ditto on all that is said above.  Ram air is a "catch phrase" to make something sound technical used by marketing.

I know a couple of owners used this setup though:

i recently tried making my own on my 87 chevy. all i did is cut a hole in the thing at the end of the air hose that goes into the radiator. roundedline knows what im talking about. it worked but when it rained it sucked in water and it started to run like crap so i took it off. you could tell a little difference in power not enuff to really do anything.
