Considering a Dash Cover...
« on: September 05, 2014, 05:25:45 pm »

My dash-pad is all cracked up and I plan on either replacing it or getting a cover.

I have not been able to see a dash-covered truck in real life so I am uncertain about how they look/feel. There are pictures I have seen online, but those don't let me look up close around certain areas.  Do they cover the entire original dash? How do they look around the dash-trim, sides, speakers, vents, bezel/gauges? Fit well? Brand?

They will cover all the surface area of the dash.  What you are showing on the lower edges is just trimming.
Here is a post with pictures of one:

As I understand it the part that is made of blue vinyl is the "Dash Pad" correct? What part is the "trimming"?  I am hoping that a "Dash Cover" will cover the Dash Pad.

Thank you for the link, that does help. Is there a really good brand of Dash Cover, or am I expecting to much?

Thanks again for the help.

I only sell Coverlay dash covers.  That is all I would use on my trucks.

By trimming, I mean someone trimmed the ends of your dash down.

I bought a Coverlay and it fits well. I even changed the color of my dash from dark brown to tan and you can barely tell I made the change. My pictures of it are in bad lighting so I didn't attach any.  The only thing that I would do differently if I had the option would be to use a little more silicon in certain areas. Otherwise this was a sweet purchase, easy to install, and the dash looks great.

I have a coverlay as well, and I'm happy with it.  Not perfect, but pretty good.  The defrost vents don't really fit properly in mine, and you can just see the edges of it around my Silverado trim, but otherwise looks like new.  No one ever notices its a cover until I tell them.  I bought a black cover and sprayed it when I sprayed all of my interior with duplicolor interior paint.  I also sprayed key parts of the old dash cover so small edge showing wouldn't be noticeable.
