No Defrost

I have an 1985 Chevy C20 with a 350.  The defroster quit working.  I think I've traced the problem to "what I think" is a cut vacuum line that goes to the cluster of lines behind the switches in the dash.I found a post with the same problem that was several years old.  I have a vacuum line that comes off the intake manifold, to a "T" with one end capped off, and the other to the round canister.  That line has vacuum.  The one coming out of the firewall from "what I can only assume is the dash" is the same looking line that is in the cluster behind the cluster of switches.  How do I splice into one of those little lines?  I pretty much checked everything I can, and that seems logical to me.

Any help?

The line coming through the firewall should be the source,plug it into the tee.Some where between the engine and the tee there should be a check valve,assuming your setup is the same as the pic

You can splice it using a short length of small diameter vacuum hose as a sleeve on the outside of that small line.  Vacuum should go from manifold to reservoir (plastic ball), and the other connection point on the reservoir should connect to the small line going through the firewall.

i used a length of windshield washer hose to fix the same line on my truck

it was melted off at the firewall im guessing from getting against the manifold then someone shoved the rest of it back in the hole. i pulled a few inches out and inserted it into a length of the windshield washer hose about 3 inches then shoved it back in the firewalll hole. then i ran the new line to the black ball thing

Thanks guys, I haven't had a chance to connect the vacuum line yet, but it will be the first thing I do.  I'll let you know how it goes.
