Carb to replace quadrajet

The old qjets pretty wore out on my truck. So I was wondering if there was any aftermarket spreadbore carbs that would mount on the qjet intake? I'm kinda tight on money and I don't really want to buy an intake too but if I have to I'll spring for one. My engines a 307 stock cam with 53cc 305 heads.

I would try to find a suitable Q-Jet to build for my engine. other options include:

Holley used to make a spreadbore replacement carburetor for the Q-Jet. Not sure on the part numbers.

The Edelbrock carburetor doesn't get much love on this board. My son had one on his '85. We ended up building a Q-Jet for his truck.

Holley's spreadbore direct replacement is the 4175.    The mechanical secondary one is the 4165 which i don't think you generally want it most cases.

i dont know how much you are willing to spend but Jet Performance sells completely rebuilt and warrantied Qjets. you can get them from Jegs with free shipping. i have one on each of my trucks for a few thousand miles each and i am extremely satisfied. they are a bit salty but it means no rebuilding, swapping parts, or tinkering around for who knows how long on an old million mile Qjet

I am NOT knocking anyone who does that. some people are very skilled with them and should be proud. but its just not for everyone

and dont take this as putting down any other kind of carb. i just think you cant really go wrong with a properly redone Quad

I'm running the stock intake with an Edelbrock square bore and a squarebore-spreadbore adapter (see pic).  Runs fine for me, haven't had to buy a new intake, and works as a spacer to help prevent heatsoak

I have an Edelbrock square-bore-carb-to-spread-bore-manifold adapter like that shown above sitting around here unused since I changed my manifold.  You can have it if you want.

That being said, my recommendation is to get a rebuilt Quadrajet from SMI.
