My truck has been garaged all winter, the snow has finally melted here in PA and the truck was finally ready to start today. I just removed the trans and had it rebuilt, replaced oil pump, oil pan gasket, rear main, water pump, coolant hoses, intake gaskets, etc.. I bought a gasket set from napa, and don't have too many left...
When the ignition is turned to ON position you can always hear a knocking noise which i think is the choke.. I was bumping the motor to bring
#1 to TDC and was sick of listening to choke so i unplugged it. I got distrib set... and everything setup to start the truck. I plugged choke in etc, everything hooked up correctly, bone stock 350 that passes CA and PA emissions.. I get in to actually fire up the truck and when i turn ignition on i hear a fuse blow. Truck started and ran fine. I took it for a road test and everything is fine, no leaks no noises, no drips of anything.
However, the fuel gage suddenly is not working, It always has before, and the idiot light is on for choke/oil pres. Obviously there is oil pres bc i have driven the truck so I think it is choke related. Turns out the fuse is a 20 amp for the gauge/choke. I replaced the fuse and it blew instantly. So I disconnected the battery to see if it will then recognize the choke ? I havent tried it again yet, I am going to wait till the am. Just wondering why else this fuse would be blowing. Thanks for the help in advance.
