i'm predicting that cars will become like computers-----assembled, not built:

One company will make the drivetrains, probably GM   (Intel, AMD)

One company will make the chassis, probably Toyota  (Whoever manufactures the casings for your computer)

Another company will make the suspensions,  if it's going this way then hopefully Jaguar   (Soundblaster)

Another company will make the interior and seats   (Logitech)

Another company will supply the audio, entertainment and info center/console  (Harman Kardon)

All the components will be assembled and companies will "brand" the car as their own-----possibly GM or Toyota.  Or new startup companies.  Even google.

But i'm predicting GM will stop making complete cars.

Well...I built my own last 2 computers and they work great and are cheaper than buying the same performance outright.

So...consumers are more than capable and it keeps the wheels turning in American minds!  I would say most automotive engineers went into this field because they started with some passion for cars!  That passion did not start by owning or driving a Ford Fiesta!

Automakers already sub out a lot of the  vehicle
Probably half the car is made by subcontractors
