Wheel painting tips---as recommended by Summit.
i won't be doing this anytime soon, but i was browsing thru a summit catalog and this way i can throw the catalog away while still being able to refer back to it which is why i want to post it here.
1) Remove brake dust, dirt, grease etc. with Duplicolor paint prep #SHW-PS100
Then wash and dry wheels
2) Apply several thin coats of Dupli-color self-etching primer #SHW-DPP101 at about 8"-10" from the surface of the wheel.
3) Wait 30 mins, then apply two light coats and one medium coat of your finish color taking 10 mins between each coat.
4) For extra shine, use Dupli-color High Performance Wheel coating #SHW-HWP103

heres the cards. i got the bigger ones, tried to lay them in longways but they didnt want to bend that well and hold shape. wouldnt of been bad deal but i ended up cleaning out the wheels with air then sanded the rust down then painted, not realizing i just put more rust in the cracks where dirt was just at that i blew out with the air chuck. so i had to redo one wheel.

one thing i did realize was the tire bead kind of over lap the wheel which made putting the card in the crack

I have the white rims, which are a little tougher to keep clean. Gonna try the card trick when i paint. However, i am also looking for this style wheel cover. If you see them anywhere let me know. I started a specific thread. Didnt mean to double-up.
