Throttle cable
« on: January 31, 2016, 05:11:00 pm »
I'm getting ready to swap my six cylinder with a V8. Can anyone tell me if the throttle cable will have to be changed?

i see different part numbers listed for each the straight six and v-8's.  Maybe try yours first and if it doesn't work, then you can get a new one.

i know with my 8 to v-6 swap you could use a v-8 cable for the six and possibly the 6 to 8, but i ended up using the correct cable for the 6 because i accidentally broke the plastic tab at the accelerator end on the 8 cable.

One good thing in your case is that v-8 cables are so easy to find by so many sources.  Top quality stock and aftermarket.  The same can't be said about v-6 cables.

The cable for the 8 is much shorter, depending on the year the end may be different, I have one for an 1985 , will never need it.

I haven"t removed the six yet. I was hoping to have it sold before I made my swap. I would be interested in your cable just in case the six one doesn't work.
