Radio antenna question
« on: May 30, 2016, 12:29:49 pm »
84 K2500 with a new windshield/with internal antenna.  I'm about to install a radio in the truck.  I have one of those small remote mount antenna. Before I go to the trouble of wiring it up (it requires 12V and ground) are they any better then the windshield antenna?

Thanks!

Great question.  I've had some that worked great built in the windshield and others barely worked at all.  Depends on the windshield I guess.  On more than one occasion I've installed fender mounted antenna's because the trucks windshield antenna fell short of the mark...

I have never had an issue with the internal antenna on my truck. Signal quality was always the same as my 97 Silverado or my 03 Tahoe with external antennas. I much prefer the internal antenna, looks cleaner and can't be broken off.
