Rebuilding Original Transmission on Chevy K10
« on: September 15, 2016, 09:30:45 pm »
Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I had a quick question.

I have a 1977 K10 350, custom deluxe. As far as I know it has the original transmission in it. Someone has added a shift kit to it recently,  is it worth rebuilding these transmission at all? I am thinking long term when I have issues with it.
As far as cost, which would be cheaper?
Rebuild or swap it for a new transmission?

Thanks

whats wrong with it? if nothing, leave it alone. if its burnt up you can get a used one for probaly around 500-700. if you have one built you can get 700-1000.

if yours is bad might be the time to think about a 700r4 for about 600-800 but also think about driveshafts

Turbo 350 transmissions are excellent and always worth keeping. I still have my old 350 so I can use it for something some day.
