removing bed with a cherry picker

this isn't with a cherry picker, but when i take off the bed, i unbolt the bed, jack up the rear, remove the tires, drop it back down, then slide it off onto something that'll hold it up of course. i've done this quite a few times by myself.

Not shure what you are calling a cherry picker but I call a cherry picker a log loader on a log truck. Anyway, I built a wood bracket. A 4x4 the length of the bed, & 2x4s on either end across the bed. Toe screwed them together, wraped a chain around the 4x4 a little closer to the back and use my chain fall on my gantry pulled it up and drove out from under it.
One of these days I am going to build an ajustable one out of 2x2 steel square tube.

I took off an 8 foot box with a cherry picker (engine hoist) from the back of the truck with the gate removed. I looped a rope over the hook and tied it thru the 2 center stake pockets. 1 more rope to stabilize the front of the box from the hook and pick er up.

I use an engine hoist to take the body tub off my 74 blazer. I bolted log chains to the front and rear seat mounts. It took me a little while trying to find the center (balanced) point but once I found it it was really easy to lift it off.

all I used was the cherrypicker and a 4'x4' with two screw hooks, and a chain.

Pretty nice.What keeps the sides from flexing away from the 4x4, the wheelwells?

That's my best guess. Thanks for getting the pic to load. I had a @#%$ of a time. If you can't tell, it's a longbed, and I had to extend the lift arm out completely. If my dad was in town that weekend, and willing, I would've had him and my 2 brothers help, but it was just me and the old picker. I strongly recommend doing all your prep work and some form of sealer on the front side of the bed that faces the cab, and also check ALL of your brakelight wiring and fuel lines when the bed is removed. My brake wiring was coroded with stuff the color of the statue of liberty (corrosion on copper wire) and my neoprene filler neck hose had a horrible kink in it.
