I have done 2 trucks now. 1 we completely tore down and sand blasted everything. I helped the guy that owned the blaster, it was a huge thing that towed behind a truck. The engine that ran the compressor was a 351 Ford that ran on 4 cylinders and the other 4 compressed air. If memory serves it cost me like $250.00 and this was in 1984.
This was a very big job that seemed to never end.
Second round I just wanted to strip down the body of any body work and the 2 coats of paint as the factory paint/ primer was peeling under the respray. It came out real nice.
Just be sure to duct tape and cover everything that you dont want sand blasted or filled with sand. (Motor, air ducts, inner fenders and of course GLASS!)
I guess it really depends on how much paint and body work you have to strip off and just how nice you want to do this job. Belive me a total tear down is way to much work for a daily driver unless you really love that truck.
