Turn, cruise, wipers wiring
« on: February 05, 2017, 11:08:09 pm »
I have an 84 K10 I am rebuilding. I am wanting to keep it looking old, but working new. I.E. get rid of the vaccine systems and replace them with new electronic ones. The old cruise control is out for sure, but is there a way to use the same switches in the turn arm in any electric cruise module?
I very well may be asking the same question of the wipers as well, but I not there yet as they Kenda work OK... but they very well may end up on the replacing block as well.
I may just not be able to do it, but I just really don't want to have to use one of the almost but not quite rostra arms, or even worse, totally new buttons.

Thanks
84 K10

You can use the stock cruise switch with the aftermarket cruise control systems.  However...  The column switch is one of the Achilles Heels of the cruise control systems on these trucks along with the brake pedal switch.

Troubleshoot the system.  If it hasn't been butchered by a previous owner... you may be surprised by how easy it is to find what's wrong with the stock Cruise III system and actually fix it.

The Cruise III service training textbook, the 1984 GM Light Truck service manual, and 1984 GM Light Truck wiring manual are in my signature.
