Best value shocks?
« on: June 01, 2017, 09:01:50 am »
I need to replace the shocks on my '77 c10, however, I have only replaced shocks on a '98 blazer for which I used bilsteins, as far as I can tell Bilstein doesn't make shocks for these trucks and if they did they would be expensive. What are good shocks for these trucks on a budget? Let's say total less than $250?

So my wife's grandpa got me some kyb ex-lovers shocks, rotors, pads, shoes, bearings, seals, and wheel cylinders for $200...I wanted the gas-a-justs but I wasn't about to argue with him since he got me everything so cheap and brand new (he works for an auto parts store and gets really good employee pricing). So we did the brakes and shocks, and man, bleeding the rear took forever and used a ton of fluid (drive-in wheel cylinders was leaking and sucking air back in for who knows how long). But when all was done it was a night and day difference, I can go over manhole covers now without bouncing all over, the truck rides firmer and the shocks actually raised the front about an inch and the rear about a half-inch. I'm going to need new springs soon, at least in the rear as they are worn out (steel plate bed floor for who knows how long, had a crane mount on it when I got it). Overall, it was a very easy job, and made a huge difference. Thank you MrFiveOh for the recommendation.
