1991 Crew Cab with Quad Headlamps

I am wondering what is factory correct for the headlamp retainers?  Some companies sell three versions: Zinc, Black, & Chrome.  I know Chrome isn't factory correct, but were the headlamp retainers just zinc plated, or were they painted black?
