How can I figure out which brake option I have? 1978 3/4 2wd.  JB6 or JB7???? Please help, my brakes are locking up in the front without applying pressure. I need to know which combo valve I need????

Locking up as in you barely put them on and the wheels lock and never release?  IF that is the case, it is the brake line not the brake caliper.

Or are you talking about barely applying the brakes and the fronts lock down?  Do you have a soft pedal?

If it is still there, the brake option is listed in the glovebox.  Being a 3/4T truck it will have the HD 1.25" rotors.

the brakes are rubbing while driving down the road. after 2-3 miles the front brakes start smoking. not sure about a soft pedal, too busy trying to stop the smoking. The rotors got soo hot that their slinging grease out the outer wheel bearing cover. I don't have any info sicker in my glovebox!

Sounds like you need to replace the hose going to the caliper.  They have a tendency to collapse internally and hold pressure to the caliper doing exactly what you are describing.
