Drainage hole????
« on: April 28, 2021, 10:19:00 am »
So, when I pulled my carpet, on both drivers side and passenger side, there were holes where the nose of the pliers are pointing.  Thinking that it was an error in manufacturing, or a rust hole, I treated it and closed it up.  Now I am wondering if it has a necessary use.

Can anyone infor me about this?

Are talking about the drain hole(s) at the channel bottom of the door jam? If so there are 1 or two drain holes on each side.

Yes, but it was only one (at that location, and like an inch long opening, both sides.  I figured it was a boo-boo from the factory o-so many years ago.  If they are "drain holes" what purpose do they serve and doesn't this drain right to the rockers - a nemesis for rust???  And should I open them back up?

My rockers were replaced some time ago and I don't recall how the holes were shaped on the original ones. I have two small holes on each side (one towards the front and the other towards the back) and they drain water that may get in the channel. The channel should be partially filled in (not all the way - you need room for your rubber seal) with seam sealer so water does not get inside the rockers. Holes are needed or water would sit in the channel.
