All red tailights.
« on: October 17, 2005, 10:34:00 pm »
I was behind one of these ( click link below ) today and noticed that the tailights are the 73-87 taillights only they are all red instead of having the clear lens for the back up lens. They looked really cool. It would be a mod that only 73-87 fanatics would notice. I am going to try to find a parts dealer and see how much they would be. There isn't a real close up of the taillights in the auction but I assure you they are 73-87 tailights.

I believe these are the same ones that were discussed previously, but let us know what you find.

I went to the RV dealer today but got there too late and the parts department was gone for the day. Going to call tomorrow. They had a bunch of these models on the lot with these taillights. They are definately, without a doubt, 73-87/91 chevy lights. The backup lens is molded in red instead of clear. I don't know if the backing plate is the same or not but my guess would be yes. I will let you know how much and give the phone # tomorrow.

Wow, I thought the backing plate had to be reflective to be DOT compliant. I guess not. Anyway, there's no chrome trim. They might be imposters..:lol

The dealer ordered me a set today. They are $12.51 per side and must be prepaid before ordering. Don't know about shipping since I will be picking mine up.
As far as being dot approved They have the dot on the lens itself. The only thing different from the truck lenses is the back up lens that is glued in is made of red plastic instead of clear. The chrome trim ring can be removed from your old lights and attached to these ones.
RV Traders in Mesa AZ is where I got them. Talked to Russ in the parts department. 480-464-9724. Tell him you need part #s 100004 and 100003 for the Keystone Montana 5th wheel trailers. www.rv-traders.com

I have ordered one of those for an RV I worked on, any place that sells stuff for them can get them.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs
