gears

I just put a 383 stroker in my 79' chevy. Right now it tops out at 100 mph. But i am getting smoked by dodges with 318s on striaght aways, but i can smoke the in a 1/4 mile. I dont think the gears are right. I plan to put 38's on the truck soon. What would be the best gear to go with?
